What
we do
AWARE
provides confidential information and support to women, children
and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and live
in Angus.
You
can contact us by phone or arrange to meet a worker at a safe
time and place.
Our
staff are trained and experienced in working with women, children
and young people who have been abused.
We
understand how difficult it is for a woman to come forward and
that she may be frightened for her own and her children’s
safety.
AWARE
is an independent organisation but we work closely with other
agencies including police, NHS, housing departments and schools.
This means that we know who to contact and what help is available
in Angus.
AWARE
will offer support whether or not a woman wants to stay with her
partner and whether or not she lives in one of our refuges.
We
understand that many women do not want to leave their own home
or their partner. We will work with a woman to help her find ways
to keep herself and her children safe.

Support
Information
We can assist with accessing information about benefits, rights,
housing, health, legal and other issues.
Other
agencies
We can assist women to access other services to help meet their
needs.
A
Safe Place to Stay
We can help a woman find somewhere to stay if she needs this.
This can be in safe temporary accommodation provided by AWARE
(refuge) or through local councils and housing associations. If
a woman needs to leave her home area , we can help her find somewhere
to stay in another area.
